Iron Maiden é uma banda britânica de heavy metal fundada em 1975 pelo baixista e único membro original Steve Harris. O grupo lançou 15 álbuns de estúdio, assim como numerosos álbuns ao vivo, compilações, EP, singles, vídeos, videoclipes e box sets. Desde sua formação, o Iron Maiden teve diversas formações. Com o vocalista Paul Di'Anno, os guitarristas Dave Murray, Dennis Stratton e o baterista Clive Burr, publicaram seu álbum de estréia Iron Maiden em 1980,convertendo-se rapidamente em um dos grupos mais representativos da NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal).Com a saída de Stratton e a entrada do guitarrista Adrian Smith, gravaram 'Killers em 1981.1 Nesse mesmo ano o vocalista Bruce Dickinson entrou no lugar de Di'Anno, o que marcou o inicio de uma série de lançamentos de grande impacto na cena. Em 1982 a banda lançou sua "obra prima", The Number of the Beast,2 que se tornou no primeiro álbum da banda a liderar a lista dos mais vendidos no Reino Unido. Clive Burr foi substituído pelo baterista Nicko McBrain, com ele lançaram Piece of Mind3 em 1983, seguido pelo grandioso Powerslave em 1984.4 O próximo lançamento seria Somewhere in Timeno ano de 1986.5 Em seguida viria o álbum conceitual Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, que foi posto à venda em 1988,e também liderou as listas de mais vendidos no Reino Unido.
A formação se manteve inalterada até que Adrian Smith abandonou o grupo durante a produção do álbum No Prayer for the Dying, de 1990, sendo substituído por Janick Gers. Seu último álbum número um no Reino Unido, Fear of the Dark,lançado em 1992. No ano seguinte Dickinson também deixa a banda.6 Seu substituto, Blaze Bayley, debutou em 1995 com The X Factor, álbum que marcou o inicio de sua “decadência”.7 Em 1998 foi lançado o álbum Virtual XI,8 o último com Bayley.
Dickinson e Smith voltaram a banda em 1999 e no ano seguinte seria lançado um novo álbum, Brave New World. Três anos depois, Dance of Death.9 Esses álbuns trouxeram a banda ao topo novamente. Em 2006 editaram se álbum “mais elaborado”, A Matter of Life and Death,10 que recebeu um disco de ouro, igual a seus dois álbuns anteriores.
O Iron Maiden é uma das bandas de Heavy Metal mais conhecidas do mundo. Eles venderam cerca de 100 milhões de álbuns em todo o mundo.11 12

Iron Maiden lançou uma série de álbuns ao vivo, o primeiro em 1985 intitulado Live After Death,um de seus álbuns de maior êxito, foi gravado em uma série de shows no Hammersmith Odeon, Londres, Inglaterrae em Long Beach, Califórnia, Estados Unidos. Foram lançados, ao todo, nove álbuns ao vivo.
