Carnegie Medal
A Carnegie Medal (Medalha Carnegie) em Literatura foi estabelecida no Reino Unido em 1936 em honra ao filantropo escocês Andrew Carnegie. É um prêmio para livros feitos para crianças e jovens. Os livros nomeados devem estar escritos em inglês e devem ter sido publicados no Reino Unido um ano antes. Os juízes da medalha são constituídos por um grupo de treze crianças bibliotecárias do Youth Libraries Group of CILIP. Os livros nomeados também lidos pelos estudantes de muitas escolas que mandam um feedback para o juízes. CILIP também reconhece excelências em ilustração, com a Medalha Kate Greenaway (Kate Greenaway Medal).
O prêmio é anunciado em julho seguinte ao ano da publicação. O ganhador recebe uma medalha de ouro e uma quantia equivalente a 500 libras esterlinas em livros para doar a uma biblioteca escolar ou pública.
As regras originais diziam que um autor poderia ganhar a medalha somente uma vez. Essa regra foi depois alterada para permitir trabalhos subseqüentes do mesmo autor que deveriam ser incluídos para consideração.
