Hey Danilo

I've heard you are looking for a volunteer to have a llok at your design project. I work on similar topics on French Wikipedia.

What's your goal with that project? What is your alignement with the Wikimedia Foundation Design Guidelines?

Concerning color choices, you whoule check on contrasts to have an AA or, even better, an AAA note, meanig high contrasts.

On French Wikipedia, we have a lot of amazing ressources, that have been made by Accessiblty specialists.

Hope that can help! Please ping me if you have any questions. Trizek (discussão) 14h09min de 25 de maio de 2018 (UTC)[responder]

Hey Danilo. The top section of this page currently reminds me a lot of w:en:Help:Using colours which a few of us put together in 2006 during the redesigns of various things (such as the Main Page and Community Portal), but hasn't changed much since then. It looks like that got replicated at Ajuda:Usando cores locally, and adapted (improved?) slightly in the Frwiki copy at w:fr:Aide:Couleurs.
Secondly, there are also a large number of pages listed at mw:Accessibility and usability cleanup, the contents of which might be helpful. I dream of overhauling it all, and reducing the amount of duplication and of outdated content, but haven't had time (nor quite enough expertise in the field) to do so yet. Anyway, maybe it will help you in some way. Cheers, Quiddity (discussão) 17h49min de 25 de maio de 2018 (UTC)[responder]
@Trizek e Quiddity: Thank you for your feedback, those links are very helpful. My goal is propose a color standard to be used in infoboxes, navboxes and other templates. We had discussion about that in the past (like here and here), the adopt of the en:Help:Using colours standards was suggested, but we had no consensus, some editors want some more freedom to use colors, in my opinion, and probably the opinion of some editors, the saturation 15% and brightness 75% of that table are too grayish.
I used this tool to check the contrast of the colors of my propose, the dark colors next to the green didn't pass in the WCAG contrast standards, I made this alternative color propose, that pass on the accessibility formulas, but I think the darks tones are too dark, some editors probably wouldn't like those tones.
I am thinking in develop a propose not based in saturation and color value of the HSV scale, but based in a mix of the H of HSV scale and Y of the YIQ scale that is used in the contrast formula, so it would give colors which pass on the contrast standards and are more colorful that those with fixed saturation and color value, I am studding the math of those scales to develop a new propose.
I also think the duplication is bad, it would be great if we had a color standard centralized in meta to be followed to all wikis. Danilo.mac(discussão) 21h42min de 25 de maio de 2018 (UTC)[responder]

I made a new proposal. I didn't use the YIQ scale, I used the formula of WCAG for the contrast level AAA and the W3C formula for color difference. I made this script to generate the less dark primary colors that fit the contrast standards, so all colors fit the AAA contrast level and are less grayish than those based in the HSV color scale.
