He is known mainly for his project of Artificial Palm Trees in Libya for the creation of microclimates in the desert. The Libyan government invested in this project nearly one billion dollars for the installation of 50,000 palm trees.
For this research, which appears in textbooks, Antonio Ibáñez De Alba was awarded the Gold Medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization in 1990.[1][2][3][4][5]
His investigations are quoted in a large number of scientific publications as well as in the media.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Biography

[editar | editar código-fonte]Antonio Ibáñez de Alba was born in Barcelona, on December 2, 1956.
Between 1987 and 1988 he studied polyurethanes and made railways research on safety, braking systems, prevention from frontal crashes, level crossings and tunnels.
Prize of the World Intellectual Property Organization: Palm Trees in the desert
[editar | editar código-fonte]Between 1980 and 1990 he developed the project of artificial palm trees in Libya for the creation of microclimates in the desert. This research, which appears in Spanish textbooks, won the first prize of the EU Eureka Project in 1990.
In 1990 he was awarded the gold medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
The Libyan government invested in this Project one billion dollars for the installation of 50,000 palm trees.
Experience at NASA, oceanographic studies and later years
[editar | editar código-fonte]Between 1990 and 1992, he worked at NASA, conducting research on particles in confinement.[14]
In 1993 he carried out oceanographic studies and projects of renewable energies at sea by pressure difference.[15][16]
During these years he also collaborated on environmental and desertification issues with the government of Saudi Arabia and others.
Between 1995 and 1996, he conducted research on security, fingerprint recognition, high speed fax, electronic wizards for arbitration decisions, smart shoes, insulin patches for Diabetics, etc.[17]
In 1999 he carried out seawater desalination projects and the development of electric motors for automobiles.[18]
XXI century
[editar | editar código-fonte]During 2002 he carried out hydraulic research.
In 2003 he won the First International Prize at Barcelona Fair for Technological Innovation for his research on anti-choke pools.[19]
During 2004-2006 he developed several buoyancy projects in Andorra and Cantabria.[20]
In 2006 he won the First Castilla-La Mancha Innovation Prize for the anti-fire tree.[21]
Television: Generación XXI
[editar | editar código-fonte]In 2006 he was part of the jury in the TV program Generación XXI, presented by Manuel Campo Vidal.
Latest years
[editar | editar código-fonte]In 2010, he presented his Explosives-based Power Plant project.[22][23][24]
In 2013 he was invited by the Russian delegation to the International Space Station. That same year he presented a System of Image Transmission by Brain Waves.[25]
In 2016 he introduced a tunnel for the circulation of trains in the desert.[26][27][28][29]
In 2017 he presented a Technological Canvas for Grass Protection.[30][31][32]
