The most populous state in the North Region and the second largest Brazilian state in territorial extension deserves and must have its history well told in the most accessed encyclopedia in the world. Don't you think so? The territory of Pará is covered by the largest tropical forest in the world, the Amazon, a guardian of unparalleled biodiversity. There are 144 municipalities that are home to populations equally rich in cultural diversity expressed in the form of arts, mythology, popular festivals, traditions, and gastronomy, among others. But even with all its richness in natural and cultural beauties, data about most of the Pará's municipalities are still scarce in Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms, such as Wikimedia Commons, the free media archive repository. The low prominence of Pará's social and environmental issues in Wikimedia projects affects the relevance of these topics in the free knowledge ecosystem. We are counting on you to change that! The project Wiki Loves Pará (Wiki Ama o Pará, in Portuguese), created by the user group Wiki Movimento Brasil (WMB) with support from the Wikimedia Foundation, aims to improve the quality of information about this great State (not only in territory but culturally speaking) on Wikimedia platforms. And of course, with the cooperation between the community and local institutions! And how will this happen? Wiki Loves Pará will have several activities planned to insert the environmental, cultural, and social diversity of Pará in the Wikimedia projects, including three marathons for editing entries, a wiki contest, and an occupation in a local municipality, as well as partnerships with cultural institutions to build digital collections. So, brothers and sisters, let's improve together the coverage of Pará in the Wikimedia projects. Join Wiki Loves Pará! Pará needs to be told by those who make its history!
