Rajput

Um Rajput (em hindi: राजपूत) é um membro de um dos clãs patrilineares do centro e do norte da Índia, e em algumas partes do Paquistão. Os Rajputs são descendentes dos Xátrias, uma das classes dominantes de grandes guerreiros no Subcontinente Indiano, particularmente no Norte da Índia.1 2 3 4 5 Atualmente, Uttar Pradesh é o lar da maioria dos Rajputs, embora demograficamente a população Rajput e os antigos estados Rajput são encontrados espalhados por grande parte do subcontinente, particularmente no norte e na Índia Central. Populações são encontradas em Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu, Punjab, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra.
