Roseane Ferreira dos Santos was born in October 15th of 1971, Maceió, Brasil. She is an paralympic brazilian athlete, and her specialty is spear throwing, weight and discus. She lived in the periphery of Recife and wordked as a maid until she is 18 years old, when she was ran over by a truck in the corner of her house and lost her left leg. After the accident she got a depression and spent some years without going out from home because she was afraid that people could offend her because of her condition. Roseane got into the sport when, coincidentally, her current coach, Francisco Raimundo Matias, saw her in the street and asked her to join them on the trainings.

Roseane's first participation in games was at Sydney 2000 Paralympics and she won 2 gold medals by braking world records at shot pu and discus throw. She broke another world record in Athens 2004 Paralympics, however shw didn't won any medal. In 2006, in the Adapted Athletics World Championships, she won a silver medal at discus throw and a bronze medal at shot put.

In 2014 she was diagnosed with cancer, but after the medical treatment she started to train again. In 2015 she founded the Rosinha Santos Athletic Association, which helps young paralympic athletes. In the same year, she won a bronze medal in Toronto Parapan Games.

This year, Rosinhawill compet at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and will be her last competition.
