Alexander John Gosse Downer (nascido a 9 de Setembro de 1951) é um ex-político australiano do Partido Liberal^[1] que foi Ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros da Austrália de 11 de Março de 1996 a 3 de Dezembro de 2007, o mais longo na história australiana. Foi também o Líder da Oposição durante oito meses entre 1994 e 1995.^[1] Até ao início de Fevereiro de 2014, Downer foi o Assessor Especial do Secretário-Geral das Nações Unidas no Chipre.^[1] Em Junho de 2014, Downer foi nomeado Alto Comissário da Austrália para o Reino Unido.^[2]
