@Skyshifter: The English article incudes images of both his official birth and death registrations, neither of which use the name "Jean"; no known sources before the 1883 reprint - 53 years after Vieillot's death - use the name. Not one of Vieillot's works use it. The 1883 source only uses it parenthetically (as "Louis-Pierre (or Louis Jean Pierre) Vieillot"). None of the sources it quotes use it. It is impossible to prove a negative, but there is not one person (on en.Wikipedia, de.Wikipedia, Wikisource, or off-wiki) where this has been discussed at length, arguing that the name "Jean" is valid, and not one source contemporary with Vieillot uses it.
