Hi Maryana, I can see that you have been busy inviting a lot of people to the next series of meetings to be held here in Brazil (Wikiencontros), but I'm puzzled as to what has been your criteria to choose those you saw fit to invite personnaly. Reading the topic in our Esplanada, I gather that you are trying to contact some of our most active users and, based on the invites you already made, I think you are somewhat missing the mark... Hi José,

We just used Toolserver to get a list of all pt.wikipedia editors who've made at least 500 edits in the past 5 months. We actually emailed all those people first (the ones who had email enabled), and I talk page messaged the ones who didn't have email. I also posted to the talk pages of some people who listed their location on their user page and were near some of the proposed cities – those users aren't necessarily at the top of the active list, but I'd still love to meet them and hear what they have to say. I'd be happy to get suggestions from you on how to proceed with the outreach. Agradeço o convite mas tem que levar em consideração que a Wikipédia é lusófona e não brasileira, por isso convidar editores que não são brasileiros para um encontro de brasileiros pode ser considerada uma ofensa.

Eu sou angolano com muito gosto, e sinceramente dos wikipedistas brasileiros que por aqui andam apenas uns 10% são toleráveis e cada vez são menos, pois também estão fartos de aturar os outros por isso, dispenso convites para conhecer os outros 90% dos quais quero é distancia e que por mim não fazem cá nada a não ser estragar a wiki. Encontro Brasil

Maryana,uma ideia legal seria por devido ao tamanho e questões internas aqui (há cidades aqui que tem mais de 10.000 km de distância) E o preço do transporte também não ajuda.Algumas passagens de avião para transporte interno passam de 500 doláres (estas passagens são intra-regiões) e o tempo do traslado passa de 6 horas inclusas as escalas e conexões fossem feitos encontros regionais.Essa ideia poderia ser colocada em prática em outros países ou então por regiões línguísticas (Casos da língua alemã e a língua francesa na Europa). Muita gente nos outros países pode até ficar ofendida.Mas,como geográfo entendo que as coisas internas aqui no Brasil tem um funcionamento complexo .E ah uma coisa Angola fica na África ! Man, of course she knows Angola is not in Europe: she probably translated that message with Google Translator, the meaning was totally modified then (it appeared Zorglub was from Portugal)... The aggresive tone of the message Zorglub left above is of cource inacceptable, as is his negative judgement of 90% of the Brazilian wikipedians. As a Lusophone who has been living in four Portuguese speaking countries (including Angola and Brazil, at present Portugal), I should however like to lay my finger on some critical points. Starting a campaign meant to encompass the entire pt:WP. and then just focus on the Brazilian wikipedians is inevitably resented by the non-Brazilians - especially if they are then invited to join the Brazilians. I think the reaction would be similar if a campaign for en:WP was focusing just on the USA, inviting the odd Brit or Australian to join in. Also, with due respect to Maryana's efforts, it is certainly not a good idea to have a campaign in/for pt:WP launched by someone who is not fluent in Portuguese. Finally, I have a shrewd idea that Zorglub's opinion of the Brazilian wikipedians may have to do with the Brazilian contributions to articles on Africa, which are in fact often problematic. -- Aflis (discussão) 12h04min de 3 de fevereiro de 2012 (UTC)

Well,i can´t talk in a good english,because i have some difficults to speak and write in that language.But i keep trying.Has as many polemics about the Portuguese language project.Well,users from other countries has resentments about when brazilians edits the topics on any subject related to their internal things about your countries os aspects on their events.I have many problems when i go to edit the topic about Eurovision Song Contest,or anything about Europe.Well,on this articles i have to go reed on english project because i can´t put the information on the language.It´s about almost 200 million brazilians versus about 40 million in the other countries.4 between 5 portuguese speakers living here in Brazil,But other countries consider since a few years out here that we are imperialists, because our culture is interfering with them internal relations,mainly Portugal because economical resources.I remember when Rio de Janeiro wins the 2016 Summer Olympics we had some conflicts with some portuguese editors.I can have any problems about a future Portuguese and Angolan Wikipedia Enconter.I can´t feel discriminated.The problem it´s about historical relations when 190 years ago.Brazil becoume independent and later has incorporated new words due to the Indians, blacks and numerous waves of immigration from Europe, Asia, Middle East,because this Brazilian Portuguese language and the people has developed a completely different way of European/African Portuguese. Haverá um encontro em Fortaleza?

Terá encontro em Fortaleza? Só achei encontros nas cidades de São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Curitiba. Nem nas cidades de Belo Horizonte, Vitória, Porto Alegre e Florianópolis eu não encontrei. Quanto mais no Nordeste, onde as principais cidades da região são Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza (cidade onde eu moro) e Natal.

Desde que foi definido o "final schedule", passei a pensar na possibilidade de viajar a Curitiba ou a São Paulo. Difícil, por causa do custo da passagem e principalmente por causa do trabalho. You're welcome! Steven and I are interested in putting together some sort of virtual meetup for anyone who wants to come to the Brazil meetings but can't. We'll try to schedule it for a time that would work for Europe and Africa, as well as Brazil, just in case some editors in Portugal and Angola might want to participate. I'll let you know when we figure out a good date/time.
