Andrew Vabre Devine (Flagstaff, 7 de outubro de 1905 - Orange, 18 de fevereiro de 1977) foi um ator estadunidense. Alguns dos filmes nos quais Devine apareceu são A Glória de um Covarde, As Aventuras de Huckleberry Finn, Ali Babá e os 40 Ladrões, Terra Bruta, Unidos Venceremos e A Volta ao Mundo em 80 Dias.[1]
Morte e legado[editar | editar código-fonte]
Devine morreu de leucemia aos 71 anos em Orange, Califórnia, em 18 de fevereiro de 1977. Sua missa fúnebre foi realizada na Catedral da Sagrada Família. O ator Ken Curtis cantou no funeral.
A rua principal de sua cidade natal, Kingman, foi renomeada para Andy Devine Blvd. Sua carreira é destacada no Mohave Museum of History and Arts em Kingman, e há uma estrela em sua homenagem na Calçada da Fama de Hollywood. Seu nome também aparece na música Pencil Thin Mustache, de Jimmy Buffett, que descreve a cultura pop de sua juventude, e na música de Frank Zappa e The Mothers of Invention, Andy, no álbum de 1975 One Size Fits All. Em 2019, em seu álbum Good Dog, Dave Stamey lançou uma música intitulada Andy Devine, contando histórias de encontros com atores ocidentais de Hollywood.
