Between the Buried and Me é um quinteto de Metal progressivo originários de Raleigh, North Carolina. O nome da banda foi retirado da canção "Ghost Train", da banda Counting Crows ("Took the cannonball down to the ocean/Across the desert from the sea to shining sea/I rode a ladder that climbed across the nation/Fifty million feet of earth between the buried and me")

A banda foi fundada em 2001 na cidade americana Winston-Salem de North Carolina pelo vocalista Tommy Rogers (From Here On, Undying, Prayer For Cleansing), pelos guitarristas Paul Waggoner (Prayer For Cleansing) e Nick Fletcher (Azazel), o baixista Jason King (Azazel) e o baterista Will Goodyear (Voids, Prayer For Cleansing).
Logo o baixista Dan Briggs de Erie, Pennsylvania substitui Jason King no baixo. O novo integrante também é membro das bandas Espinaca, Nemo e MFWC. Briggs e Waggoner são ambos straight-edges e alguns membros da banda são vegan.
De acordo com um boletim postado no MySpace recentemente, a banda se encontra em processo de composição para um novo álbum. A gravação está programada para ocorrer em maio, saindo em turnê logo após o lançamento.
