Foi criada em Ottawa,Canada por Jeff Waters em 1984,ele escreveu e gravou a música "Annihilator"(Muito diferente dá música com o mesmo nome no álbum de 1994,King Of The Kill) com o cantor John Bates,a versão original de Annihilator foi lançada em 2005 no álbum Schizo Deluxe. Waters e Bates chamou o baterista Paul Malek e o baixista Dave Scott,essa formação durou dois anos e as músicas escritas neste período compuseram uma parte boa dos primeiros dois albums da banda.
Após o disco,John Bates e Dave Scott decidem sair da banda,citando como motivo as diferenças artisticas e os conflitos de personalidade.
Waters convocou uma assembleia em Vancouver(Cídade),aonde montou uma formação inteiramente nova, incluindo o membro formador do D.O.A, Randy Rampage,Waters muda constantemente a formação da banda.
