Richard Axel (Nova Iorque, 2 de Julho de 1946) é um médico estadunidense.

Foi agraciado, juntamente com Linda Buck, com o Nobel de Fisiologia ou Medicina de 2004, por trabalhos sobre os receptores de odores e a organização do sistema olfativo.
