Buckethead (nascido nos EUA, em 1969, cujo o nome verdadeiro é Brian Carroll) é um guitarrista e compositor americano. Usando como marcas registradas pessoais máscara plástica branca e um balde da KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) na cabeça (daí o nome artístico), Buckethead criou um personagem misterioso. Ele é um compositor prolífico, lançou 36 álbuns solo e trabalhou em mais 50. As bandas mais conhecidas das quais ele trabalhou são Praxis, Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains e Guns N'Roses. Suas músicas abrangem diversos estilos musicais incluindo Thrash Metal, Funk, Eletrônica, Jazz e Música experimental.

Embora possa tocar vários instrumentos (toca baixo, banjo, violino e piano), Buckethead é melhor conhecido por tocar guitarra, caracterizado por tocar diversos estilos de forma exímia. Guitar One o apontou como o 8º lugar da lista dos "10 maiores Shredders de todos os tempos".

Mesmo que Buckethead trabalhe primeiramente como artista solo viajando os Estados Unidos com um trio, ele possui um grande currículo de colaborações com artistas famosos como Les Claypool, Tony Williams, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell,Corey Taylor, Serj Tankian do System of a Down, Guns N' Roses e com Bill Laswell do Praxis.

Buckethead foi aluno de Paul Gilbert, hoje muitos o consideram melhor que seu professor. Por muito tempo imaginou-se que os dois seriam a mesma pessoa, hoje em dia essa hipótese já foi descartada e existem provas de que não são a mesma pessoa, como por exemplo datas de apresentação de Paul Gilbert e Buckethead coincidirem num mesmo dia e hora em locais diferentes ou muito distantes

Ele também já tocou ao lado de Steve Vai, nas gravações da trilha sonora para o filme O Fantasma de Marte.

Curiosamente, em meados de 2004, após ter deixado o Guns N' Roses, depois das gravações do CD Pandemonium From America(Um álbum do ator Viggo Mortensen, o Aragorn, juntamente com outros atores de Senhor dos Anéis), Ozzy Osbourne o convidou para tocar em seu novo álbum, no lugar de Zakk Wylde, porém, como critério para os show's ele deveria tocar sem sua máscara e balde, não concordando a parceria não se concretizou.

O Site Digital Dream Door apontou Buckethead como sendo o sexto melhor guitarrista de Heavy Metal/Hard Rock de todos os tempos, em uma lista de mais de cem guitarristas, também o apontou nove vezes no topo da lista dos 100 melhores solos de guitarra. Em 2000 Duelou com Paul Gilbert na guitarra, tendo sua vitória, Logo após em 2002 Duelou com Joe Satriani, novamente com vitória. Já foi eleito o melhor guitarrista do mundo seis vezes sendo essas: 1990, 1993, 1997, 2003, 2005 e 2006.
