Era georgiana
A Era georgiana foi um período da história do Reino Unido cujo designação tem origem nos reinados dos primeiros quatro dos Reis da Casa de Hanôver do Reino da Grã-Bretanha: Jorge I, Jorge II, Jorge III e Jorge IV. O período está compreendido entre 1714 e 1830, com o sub-período da Regência, em que Jorge IV esteve como Príncipe Regente durante a doença do seu pai Jorge III. Por vezes, o pequeno reinado de Guilherme IV, (1830 to 1837) é também incluído. O último monarca do Reino Unido foi a sobrinha de Guilherme, Vitória, que daria o nome à próxima era, a Era vitoriana.
O termo "Georgiano" é utilizado num contexto social e de arquitectura.

A sociedade deste período e as suas preocupações foram bem representadas nos romances de Henry Fielding, Mary Shelley e Jane Austen, pela arquitectura de Robert Adam, John Nash e James Wyatt e no revivalismo do estilo Neogótico.
O renascer das artes foi expresso pelos poetas românticos principalmente Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, Percy Bysshe Shelley, William Blake, John Keats, Lord Byron e Robert Burns. O seu trabalho introduziu uma nova era na poesia caracterizada por uma linguagem alegre, positiva e de ideiais elevados.
Na pintura, destacaram-se Thomas Gainsborough, Sir Joshua Reynolds, o jovem J. M. W. Turner, John Constable e o paisagista Capability Brown.
