Saoirse Una Ronan (AFI: [ˈsˠiːɾˠʃə], /'sircha/; Carlow, 12 de abril de 1994)1 é uma atriz irlandesa.
Ela começou sua carreira ainda criança e ganhou destaque internacional em 2007, após co-estrelar o filme Atonement, pelo qual ganhou suas indicações para o prêmio BAFTA de Melhor Atriz em Coadjuvante, o Globo de Ouro de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante e um Óscar, também de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante.2 3 4 5

Ronan é filha única. Seus pais, Monica e Paul Ronan (também ator) são irlandeses. Quando criança, ela às vezes acompanhava seu pai nos sets de filmagem quando Paul estava trabalhando em filmes como The Devil's Own (br: Inimigo Íntimo) e Veronica Guerin (br: O Custo da Coragem).
Seu primeiro nome significa "liberdade" em irlandês.
Vida profissional [editar]
Ronan fez sua estreia na televisão, com papéis nos dramas médicos The Clinic e Proof.
Ela é a décima primeira pessoa mais jovem a ser indicada ao Oscar e a sétima mais jovem a ser indicada para Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante. Ronan recebeu várias indicações a prêmios por seu papel como o jovem Briony Tallis no filme Atonement (br: Desejo e Reparação).
Saoirse atuou como Susie Salmon em 2009 na adaptação cinematográfica do romance The Lovely Bones (br: Um Olhar do Paraíso), pelo qual recebeu o prêmio Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards de melhor ator/atriz, e Lina Mayfleet em City of Ember (br: Cidade das Sombras). Seu último trabalho foi como Sophie em The High Yell.

Nascida em A Bronx , Nova York. Sua família é católica. Ronan foi criada em County Carlow , Irlanda, tendo se mudado para lá quando tinha três anos de idade. Atualmente vive no Condado de Carlow. Ronan apóia a Cruz irlandesa azul. Ela tem um cão chamado Sassie. Em relação ao pronunciamento de seu nome, ela disse: " "Sir-sha" é como o povo irlandês pronuncia meu nome , mas prefiro que pronunciem ' Suur-sha."
